HowTo Process Security Groups

Follow

Overview:

When migrating content using Proventeq Migration Accelerator, it’s essential to map source security information (users and groups) to the correct target identities. You may need to map a Security Group from the source system to a User in the target system. This ensures that permissions and ownership are correctly assigned during Migration

Steps to Map Security Group to Target Type: User

1. Navigate to Security Information Mapping

  • In the Migration Preparation phase of Proventeq Migration Accelerator:
    • Go to Security Information Mapping.
    • Locate the User card.

2. Download the Mapping Template

  • Click Download Template of the Group on the User card.

  • This will generate a CSV file containing group source security details.

3. Edit the CSV File

Open the CSV in Excel and update the following columns:

  • Mapping_Type → Group
  • Source_Type → Group
  • Source_Value → Group name
  • Target_Type → Set to User.
  • Target_Value → Group name

Example:

5. Import the Updated File

  • Return to Proventeq Migration Accelerator.
  • Click Import on the User card for Group mapping and upload the modified CSV.

6. Validate the Mapping

  • After uploading the CSV, Validate all mappings.
  • Ensure all mappings are correct and no entries remain unmapped.
  • Once validation is successful, proceed with the migration.
