5.6.8 - Security Mappings

Meridio Source

In Migration Accelerator, in order to migrate user or group mappings along with item (file/folder) level security mappings, it is required to import and configure 3 different mappings before any migration takes place.

  • User Mapping
  • Group Mapping
  • Permission Mapping
Note:If there is no requirement to migrate item level security, but to migrate only user mappings, which will be considered for setting audit fields (E.g. Created By and Modified By), then user can import and configure User Mappings only.

User can import Security Mapping by following below steps:

  1. User need to enter profile name. E.g. User Mapping
  2. Select the respective profile type (User, Group & Permission) accordingly.
  3. Select “Generate Template” to export the User Mapping, Group Mapping and Permission Mapping values from migration staging database i.e. user need to perform discovery and then use “Generate Template” to export the security mappings.

  • Generate Template Option

  1. Then add target values in respective exported CSV mapping rows to complete the user, group and permission mappings.
  2. The CSV should contain columns with a header row in the format:
  • Sample User Mappings

  • Sample group mapping

 

  • Sample Permission mapping

Please note that the sample User Mapping file is included in Proventeq Migration Accelerator installation directory (typically C:\Program Files\Proventeq\Proventeq Migration Accelerator\SampleFiles)

  1. Click on “Browse” button to select comma delimited CSV file of respective mapping.
  2. Finally, one need to click on “Import Mappings” button which will import all the values in the spreadsheet and display the respective mappings in “Mappings” pane.

PMA will display above information message to import the correct combination of mappings to configure it correctly.

Migration Accelerator allows Folders to be migrated with their security. The user, group and permission mappings can be imported in to Migration Accelerator. 

Note:If there is no requirement to migrate item level security, but to migrate only user mappings, which will be considered for setting audit fields (E.g. Created By and Modified By), then user can import and configure User Mappings only.

  1. Discovery should be completed for generating mapping Templates.
  2. Select profile type (User, Group & Permission) accordingly.
  3. Select “Generate Template” to export the User Mapping, Group Mapping and Permission Mapping values from migration staging database.

User can import comma delimited CSV files for User, Group and Permission mappings by expanding “Import Mappings” accordion and following below steps–

  1. User need to enter profile name. E.g. User, Group and Permission resp.
  2. Select the respective profile type (User, Group & Permission) accordingly.
  3. Select the User, Group and Permission Mapping csv created with Source and target values.
  4. Click on “Browse” button to select comma delimited CSV file of respective mapping.
  5. Finally, one need to click on “Import Mappings” button which will import all the values in the spreadsheet and display the respective mappings in “Mappings” pane.

Please note that one needs to remove the duplicate “Default” value from exported User mapping template.
